Why is it important to have a human resources (HR) strategic plan?

The benefits that can accrue from strategic planning (but don’t always due to poor planning or poor implementation, come in a range of shapes and colors. The organization, workunits, managers, supervisors and employees can profit from having a good strategic planning process, and a good strategic plan available.

Here are some of the benefits that may occur as a result of strategic planning.

  • Why is it important to have clear and specific HR strategic objectives?

    The main purpose of human resource management is to accomplish the organizational goals. Therefore, the resources are mobilized to achieve such goals.

    Give an example of a clear and specific HR strategic objective.

    Improve Recruitment, training and staffing It vital that the human resources department be in a position where it is able to deal effectively with recruiting, training and staffing needs. They need to be able to devise strategies to attract job seekers to the company, and to manage headcount and the recruitment process.

    Why is it important to undertake additional environmental analysis when developing the HR strategic plan?

    The environment in which you operate influences every aspect of your business. As market conditions change, you tweak your strategies and tactics to accommodate fluctuating operating costs and sales. How and how quickly you react affects your competitive position and profitability. Economic, demographic, competitive and legislative factors in the business environment also affect your organization’s staffing requirements. HR must consider each of them to ensure that it provides an adequate number of employees with the right skills.

    Identify an organization with which you are familiar. This may be your own organization or another that you and the group are familiar with. Conduct a short PESTLE analysis, identifying at least five relevant factors in each of the PESTLE categories.

    i. POLITICAL ISSUES:Political issues include regulatory frame work operating in judicial system which may affect the business in different ways. There are not many political factors in Peshawar affecting Pizza Hut as is lack of competition. Factors such as laws on business employment, pollution and taxation apply on the organization which it has to follow regarding the rules.ii. ECNOMIC FACTORS:If the county’s economy is better so the GDP of the country will be good, this is a green signal for the business as the per capita income of the people will be increased and they will spend more money. In our survey we came to know that most of the people in the beginning of the months spend more and they visit pizza hut very often. When the inflation rate increases the cost of raw material also increases and this leads towards high prices of the products and vice versa.iii. SOCIAL FACTORS:Pizza hut is a multinational and it is basically originated from America so the organization is overwhelmed by western culture. There are social forms of society which consist of Upper class, middle class, middle upper class, lower class and lower class. Every country has cultural norms, values, beliefs and religion which can affect the organization.iv. TECHNOLOGICAL FACTORS:Now a day’s technology is improving so as baking and heating ovens will be of new and efficient technology and will provide efficient service. Due to new technology there are new ways of marketing like internet; telemarketing and the organization can advertise their products with much more faster pace. Computer based customer data that is MIS (managing information system) helps in collecting customer data, daily transactions, future forecasting and decision making. New vehicles will make their service more efficient.

    Consider new technology and its impact on job roles and job design.

    When creating a HR strategic plan, consider:

  • Is new technology a key part of the business plan?
  • What did the environmental analysis say?
  • Investment in new technology? If so, what?
  • Industry related technological advances?
  • Industry related technological advances?
  • For example, in a manufacturing organisation, new equipment and machinery that is designed to improve production and efficiency may require fewer workers to operate the equipment. However, there may also be an impact on the engineers who repair and maintain the equipment in terms of up-skilling them to be able to perform their roles competently.

    In another context, digital technology may be introduced to enable workers to work from remote locations, to exchange data more quickly and efficiently and to work more productively. This may not impact…
