All these training needs should be taught and fixed to ensure that the employees can maintain the workplace safety at Australian Hardware

Most codes and regulations are to prevent as much injury and illnesses as possible. These are the main codes and legislations which are implemented in my business:

  • Occupational health, safety and welfare act.
  • Codes of practice
  • Occupational Health, safety and welfare Regulations
  • OHS or occupational health and safety is an act which is used to discipline businesses to creating and maintaining a safe and looked-after environment for any person who deals with the area. OHS is a list of codes and requirements that businesses have to follow. Not following these codes can cause serious harm to employees and also fines may apply to the company.

    Responsibilities

    Supervisor and employee

  • Supervisor is responsible for the health and safety of non-employees(client ,customer ,supplier) at the my workplace.
  • The employees is responsible for making decisions affecting their health, safety and welfare at work
  • Managers have the responsibilities:

    to ensure that Manual handling policies and procedures are being implemented

    to ensure that their staff are sufficiently trained and are knowledgeable of the correct Manual handling procedures

    to design work practices and procedures that will have the least amount of risks as possible

    to ensure that the organisation has enough resources and equipment to reduce the amount of lifting, carrying and moving heavy loads.

    to ensure that employees are well known of the bad lifting practices.

    to report all incidents, accidents and injuries. This is a OHS requirement and will be a breach of OHS if not reported

    to provide all necessary safety clothing and equipment that can prevent OHS.

    They have duty of care to ensure their own safety and health at work and towards others. To ensure their own actions do not put others’ safety or health in risk. You are also report any unsafe conditions you see in the workplace.

    The Legislation that enforces the duty of care is the Occupational Health & Safety Act, work health and safety.

    Occupational health and safety (OHS) refers to legislation that ensures that policies and procedures that are employed at workplaces, involve the health, safety and welfare of all employees.

    • All manual handling is limited to just emergencies and light objects.

    • Must use the manual handling equipment which reduces the load on the body by a significant amount.

    • Never using the dangerous manual handling techniques such as drag lift.

    • Making sure that all accidents, incidents, injuries or close accidents are reported to the supervisors immediately.

    Adaptions and Amendments

    Improvement record keeping. Records management is defined as, “ the field of management responsible for the efficient and systematic control of the creation, receipt, maintenance, use and disposition of records, including the processes for capturing and maintaining evidence of and information about business activities and transactions in the form of records”

    The relevant standard sets out the general high level framework for the process of recordkeeping as well as providing practical recommendations and detailed guidance on the implementation of the framework. Based on this framework, either alternative must have extensive knowledge and understanding of the standards in order to ensure compliance.

    Training new and current staff is a standard procedure which gives them more experience and provides them with information which can make them work more efficiently and safely. The management team must firstly be trained in keeping a workplace safe and secure for employees to work in. Employees that do not feel safe in a workplace will not perform as well as they should.

    Employees will need special training in most safety practices. OH&S is a very important training program which teaches workers all types of policies and procedures which will give them a much larger benefit to the company. They will be instructed by professional specialists that are experienced in teach employees all the safety policies and procedures that they need to know.

    Everything that is needed to know in a general day-to-day activity should be included in the training program. For an employee to go beyond what is required is even better and information can be received from experienced employees, books and the internet.

    PCBU

    A PCBU is a person or group of people that manage and conduct the business. It stands for Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking. The PCBU have the responsibility of Duty of Care and must keep the workplace safe from hazards and risks. This is important because they have legal consequences if the employees are injured under the PCBU’s supervision.

    They have duty of care to ensure their own safety and health at work and towards others. To ensure their own actions do not put others’ safety or health in risk. You are also report any unsafe conditions you see in the workplace.
